It will be okay

Updated: Sep 25, 2023

It will be okay seems to be one of the most favorite things to say when bad things happen. From a rip in your favorite jeans, a loss of a job, or the death of a loved one. It will be okay… eventually. Time will heal… eventually. You can get a new pair of jeans… eventually. You can find a new job… eventually. You will see your lost loved…. eventually. But what if that’s not what we want? What if we wanted THAT pair of jeans, what if we wanted THAT certain job, and gosh I know we wanted THAT loved one to live forever on earth with us.

My husband Turner has been working day and night to prepare our fields for corn and beans to be planted. And it seems as if we’ve had one thing after the next slow us down. We were unable to get the tractor delivered in time after being serviced, the disc that was traded took two weeks longer to be delivered, and while disking we had a spring come through the back glass of the tractor and hit us both. Could have killed us, but it didn’t. My immediate words when I got out of the tractor and looked at my husband we’re “Gods not done with us yet.”

And He’s not. And, it really will be okay.

Yeah, I know. Not where you wanted me to go with this.

But it’s so true? If we just trust in Gods plan for us, we will know it’s going to be okay. It’s actually all going to be really okay at the end of our lives when we meet face to face with our maker. It’s going to be better than okay, it’s going to be the best of everything and then some. I believe that heaven is a place we all desire to be one day, a place of pure perfection, a place free of suffering and heartache.

I write all of this to say, Turner has noticed every time he starts to get a little frustrated, or things aren’t working out he sees a red bird. And he has the utmost confidence that it’s Sadler reminding him that “It will be okay Daddy.”

And I too have confidence it will be.

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
